ROCKET QUEEN INTERVIEW OCT 2005
http://www.rocketqueen.de
It
is such a pleasure to do an interview with your great band. I `m very
proud to know you. Well thanks bunches that you took some time to answer
my questions.
Firstly, thank you
very much for your interest in Hallion and taking the time out for us"
1. First it would be very nice if you could introduce your band to
us.
Gav: The future line-up of Hallion is something that's just being
finalised now.
Mark Vickers on drums, Jay Brown on bass, Dane on guitar and myself on
guitar and vocals, hoping to retain the last line-up.The last line-up
disintegrated just before recording this album. Another solo album! haha
2. Please tell us when you started to make your own music. I read
that you played in some of your local bands before Hallion, which ones
were they?
Gav: Prior to forming Hallion, which was around 2001, I`d been in a
few things. First one was a band called Bleak Utopia. Mostly made up of
guys I know from my school days. Very eclectic, every guy in the band
was different style. They were part grunge (and years before it became
popular) rap metal. Not really my thing but I learnt a lot. Only other
one of any note was a full-on rock n roll glam act called Sweet Venom.
That was a lot of fun and also the first band myself and Mark played
together in.
3. Now please tell us something about the Rock and Metal scene in the
UK. I must say you have some very cool bands over there... Which are
your favourite bands in your part of the country, Gav?
Gav: The UK has produced some of the most amazing band and artists
over rock n roll history. Everybody knows who they are. There`s been a
real lack of good rock bands breaking big over the last few years
though. Hoping that will change soon. After all, it`s been easier to
find new music that you like out there than right now. In our part of
the UK there`s a fair few acts that deserve whatever success they get.
We`ve known the guys in the Skintight Jaguars for years, Narkan are in
Essex too. Both are just full on rock n roll! Here`s to the 3 of us
carrying on the hard rock torch!
4. Could you already tell us something about the new Hallion album,
please?
Gav: Rhythm N Bruise is honestly an extension and improvement over
"Born Of Fire". The vision is still the same, every song is still a
story but improvements in songwriting and recording/production have
taken it to the next level I think. I promised myself there would be a
few Lizzy/early Metallica harmony guitars on here too, so very pleased
with those. I`ve been told that I found that I found my vocal style on
this one too, but as long as everything is improving with progress
that`s just fine.
5. Well, have you planned a tour after releasing the new album? And
do you think that your German fans will have a chance to see you life,
too?
Gav: A tour looks a lot more likely with this release due to more
interest this time around. Promotors are writing to us instead of the
other way around and there are a lot more Hallion supporters now.
Without arrogance, I can say that Hallion will win a few more quite soon
purely in our enthusiasm. Germany is high on the list as a good
percentage of our supporters are from there. USA and Scandinavia too.
6. Which huge festival do you like to play in the near future?
Gav: I´d like to play any festival that`s offered! Obviously, the
opportunity to convert people that wouldn`t normally come see us is too
good to turn down. We were offered the LVG Festival (a Vamp/Goth
weekend), which would have been great but were having the line-up
problems at the time so couldn`t commit.
7.Please tell us what your favourite Hallion song is.
Gav: Picking a favourite Hallion song is a tough on! I probably like
"Leave Me Alone" on the latest record the most. It`s moody, melodic and
powerful. I think all these new songs will work well live. I`m proud of
everything I`ve put out really, with a couple of
exceptions..........haha
8. You and the band have a profile on Mypace (www.myspace.com).
Please tell us how you found Myspace.
Gav: Myspace has been unbelievable for a lot of acts, including Hallion.
Total global access for networking, publicity and reaching people. As
well as making a few new friends along the way.... I`m even marrying one
of them!!! ha ha How they do it all with no payment from it`s users
amazes me! I cannot honestly remember how I got involved with
myspace... It was just one of a few group/networking sites that I was
pushing Hallion with and overnight it seemed www.myspace.com exploded.
Became the growing phenomenon tht it is.
9. And last but not least it`s up to the final last words to your
fans. Please send them a message!
Gav: To all of Hallion`s supporters and friends, a very big
THANK YOU!!! Any band/artist that has people take an interest in what
they do is very fortunate and it`s quite humbling. Thank you for
listening to the hard rock stories that are Hallion, here`s to many
more!
Thanks ever so much Sus!!
And once again a big
thank you for all... Tons of success to you and have a rocking time.
Keep up your good work and please keep in contact.
